WORM CASTINGS from the Source!
Think of WORM CASTINGS as "Nutrient time release crystals or Black Gold". When the composting worm, transforms organic matter into worm castings, by the expulsion of partially digested food, there is a thin film of polysaccharides that coat each granule or casting. They resemble coffee grounds in size and appearance. These harden on contact with air. When these crystals are used as a potting soil additive, there is a slow "time release" of nutrients that are water-soluble and in a form where the nutrients are in a state that can be readily accepted by plants. They help to break up soils, providing aeration and drainage and creating an incredible natural fertilizer. These castings are among the finest potting soils available. Earthworm castings have been a 'secret weapon' of avid gardeners and plant enthusiasts for hundreds of years. These gardeners knew that earthworm castings enhanced plant health and growth, but they did not know why. Now, scientific research has unlocked the secrets behind the remarkable properties of earthworm castings. They are full of beneficial microbes and nutrients, which makes a great plant fertilizer. Earthworm castings contain abundant essential elements plants need for healthy growth. Odorless and non-toxic, worm castings are an organic fertilizer that will not wash out with watering, and will not burn even delicate plants. Castings rival chemical fertilizers in their nutrient composition, providing a concentrated source of calcium, magnesium, and nitrogen. They are also rich in: Potassium and Phosphorus, but their real benefit is not the typical advertised NPK, nutrients etc., but from the microbial activity which usually includes over 380 beneficial microbes necessary for healthy soil activity and their ability to be readily absorbed by the plants. Indoors, use one part castings to three parts potting soil. Outdoors, line the bottom of your hole or furrow with three inches of castings. VermiPRO's farm is located in San Diego, CA.
